English for academic purposes (EAP)
EAP is for students whose first language is not English. Each campus has an EAP Tutor who gives free classes and tutorials.
EAP Classes
Once you have started your course at UCA, you will take a short English test. This test will be marked by the EAP Tutor on your campus. Your test will show how much help you need with your English.
The EAP Team design the EAP classes especially for you. For example, when teaching grammar, vocabulary and reading skills, we use texts from your course reading lists. In addition, we give writing advice classes at the time that you are writing your assignments and give presentation skills classes when you have presentations coming in your subject studies.
EAP Tutorials
These are one-to-one sessions with the EAP Tutor, where you can get advice about the academic language in your written and spoken work. You can also ask your EAP Tutor about academic skills, such as listening and note-taking or citation and bibliography.
