Anglo-Japanese Textile Centre, Epsom College

The Centre maintains links with Japanese Arts Universities and with notable textile artists in Japan and the UK and involves a mentoring scheme between established and new artists in the two countries.

This new centre has been created following the highly successful 'Textural Space' exhibition of contemporary Japanese Textiles which toured the UK. The exhibition was organised by the University and initiated and curated by Lesley Millar, a practising textile artist who now leads the development of the Centre.

Founded on the craft traditions of the two countries, the Centre explores the contemporary relationship between developments in textiles in the UK and Japan. The Anglo-Japanese Textile Centre is supported by the Arts & Humanities Research Board and the Daiwa Foundation.

For further information please contact Lesley Millar, lmillar@ucreative.ac.uk.
