D&AD Awards
UCA Epsom Students achieved great success at this year's D&AD Awards in June 2008 and achieved industry wide interest as a result of the show;
D&AD Students Awards
Graphic Design: New Media student Jaki Jo Hannan; Won the category for the Paul Davis Illustration brief and received a gold award and customary yellow pencil
New Blood Show
Ross Crawford and David Souch won a best New Blood Gold Award for their work present at the D&AD New Blood Show.
The Art Editor of Computer Arts Projects was one of the judges at the D&AD New Blood show and was so impressed with their work, he has commissioned them for the next issue which is on Freelance Design.
As a direct result of the Degree Show and D&AD the following students have achieved the interest below:
Shaun Tollerton gained a designers position at Nitro Group as of June 30th
Lauren Broderick was commissioned by a magazine to her first commissioned illustrations
Sam Pepper is now working as a motion designer at Ignition London
Alex Colcher is now an interactive designer Halpern Cowan
Shaun Ponton in talks with weiden and Kennedy about being commissioned to produce a book
2005
Designing for big names
Andrew Ellis, 2005 graduate, is employed as an interactive designer for the web and interactive TV at Weapon 7. Recent clients have included Adidas, Honda, Nissan and Orange. Ka Key Ng, graduate of 2004, now works as a Senior Designer at Lightmaker and has completed jobs for Nintendo, Camelot and the V&A. Robin Williams, graduate of 2005, is working for ITV as a Motion Graphics Designer.
James Kingman and Ingi Erlingson, Graphic Design New Media students, both undertook placements with the media company 'Surround' in New York, where they produced several short animations for the TV channel 'Comedy Central'. Ingi's work also featured in the April edition of 'Computer Arts'.
