This new specialist journalism course is unique:

it is the only undergraduate degree in Motoring Journalism in the UK. You get hands-on, high-tech production training across print, online, radio and TV, to improve your chances in the jobs market.

Media specialties can be mixed in any combination, with specialist options in broadcast journalism, magazine journalism, newspaper journalism or web journalism. You study the history of motoring and motorsport, the economics of the car industry and the workings of specialist media.

Links with motoring magazines, the motor industry and specialist media companies ensure quality work experience and expert specialist teaching.

This degree is part of a cluster with the Sports Journalism and Leisure Journalism courses. This reflects the overlap in these sectors with many magazines and websites serving crossover audiences

interested in, for example, motorsport, classic cars, bikes, sailing and boats and active sports and pursuits.

The latest National Student Satisfaction survey (published September 2008) shows the Farnham BA (Hons) Journalism degree to have 96% student satisfaction – making us the joint top journalism course in the country!

The National Student Satisfaction survey also shows Farnham's journalism courses to have one of the best employability ratings of all media courses or journalism degrees: 90% of UCA journalism graduates are in employment or in further study six months after graduating.

The new BA (Hons) Motoring Journalism is taught as part of a cluster with the related specialist journalism courses, the BA (Hons) Sports Journalism and the BA (Hons) Leisure Journalism. All of these journalism courses offer you practical, high-tech production training across all four media – print, online, radio and television. This strength in production improves your chances in the fierce competition for journalism jobs when you graduate.

The BA (Hons) Motoring Journalism allows you to mix your media specialties in any combination. This unique journalism course allows you to combine in-depth broadcast journalism training with specialist training in magazine journalism, newspaper journalism or web journalism.

We have excellent industry links. Work placements are built in to all our journalism courses. Recent placements include Sky Sports, Arena magazine, The Times, The Independent, BBC television and BBC regional radio; Ace and Boxing News; and journalism work for local papers such as the Surrey Advertiser and Slough Express and local radio stations such as Eagle FM, Delta FM and LBC.

We are in talks with one of the leading publishers of motoring magazines, major motor industry PR departments and specialist motoring media companies to ensure a range of high quality work experience and expert specialist teaching from the world of cars, automotive journalism and automotive publishing.

UCA's new degrees in motoring journalism include classes in the history of motoring and motorsport, the economics of the car industry and the workings of specialist media. To ensure that you meet industry requirements, there is training in media law.

You will be taught by experienced journalists and industry professionals. Our journalism teachers have worked at the BBC, ITN and ITV Sport; in local radio; at major newspapers including The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Observer and on a wide range of magazines, from Transport News to Autocar.

Farnham in Surrey is ideally located for the dedicated petrolhead. Within half an hour travel time there is the McLaren Formula 1 HQ at Woking and the Mercedes centre at historic Brooklands. Important corporate headquarters are close by in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire and we are about an hour or so from the testing ground at Millbrook. Classic enthusiasts are catered for by the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and by the track events at Goodwood – both within an hour's drive from Farnham.
