BA (Hons) Three Dimensional Design
(Ceramics or Glass or Metalwork & Jewellery)
3 or 4 years full-time, 5 years part-time at UCA Farnham

This course introduces you to the making process, exploring particular specialist materials that are appropriate for the use and context of your designed object. You have the opportunity to explore different creative processes through academic theory and research, developing visual ideas through design work in special materials such as metalwork, jewellery, glass and ceramics. You are challenged with specific design briefs that identify a particular design requirement or need, considering the critical aspects of design within different cultural contexts.

The course is well supported with digital technologies, studios and workshops, extensive libraries and the resources of the renowned Crafts Study Centre.

The four year course includes a specialist foundation year (year 0) offering you the opportunity to study all the areas of the three year degree course. On successful completion of the year 0, you will progress directly to year 1 of the BA (Hons) Three Dimensional Design course at UCA Farnham without further interview or application. The accelerated start offered by this course will give you a significant advantage in your degree studies by providing you with more time and opportunity to develop your conceptual, theoretical and practical skills.

This course is also offered on a part-time basis over 5 years, you will need to attend the University for approximately two days a week for taught, tutorial, critique and seminar sessions and will have access to the workshops, specialist facilities and artists talks.
