Pre-degree

Identifying your talents

Before you choose a specialist degree level course you may want or need to undertake a pre-degree course (sometimes referred to as further education or FE).

Find out more about our pre-degree courses at our pre-degree end of year shows or at an open day.

A pre-degree course will help you:

  • Explore the different areas of art and design practice
  • Identify your talents and interests
  • Create a portfolio of your work, ready for application to a degree course

Find out which pre-degree course is right for you.  Are you...

Taking A-levels, Advanced Diploma, International Baccalaureate or National Certificate?

Taking GCSEs or Higher Diploma and looking at your post-GCSE options?

If you're still at school, why not download our diagram that shows you the routes you can take into art and design at higher education?

Returning to education after time spent working or pursuing other avenues?  Perhaps you're looking for a career change into the creative arts or want a route into higher education.

We offer pre-degree courses at our five campuses in Surrey and Kent - Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Maidstone and Rochester.  These courses allow you to develop your art and design skills in the environment of a specialist creative arts university.  This means you will have access to our dedicated art and design facilities and support from our teams of professional artists, designers and teachers.
