The Balance of Being - David Kefford

David Kefford's work disturbs familiar emotions about every day objects and transforms both, liberating each from their immediate associations. Kefford's sculptures gently coax the viewer into recognising that, communication in spite of our ability to identify its value and intention, is a fragile process: it challenges our interpretation of reality. The apparently familiar is transformed into the unexpected, eliciting a sense of confusion and insecurity. This draws us closer into pondering the vulnerability and other worldliness of interaction.

This catalogue, produced to coincide with a touring exhibition of Kefford's recent work includes essays by JJ Charlesworth, Nikki Grange, Sanna Moore and a conversation with Christine Kapteijn.
