Photography Research Cluster
The newly established Photography Research Cluster, The Book Room, won a bid to re-write the world famous seminal text 'Basic Photography' by Michael Langford which was published 2007. The book has significantly promoted the Research Cluster and the University.
The Research Cluster participated in a highly successful event at the London Artist Bookfair (LAB) at the ICA in October 2005 with a display curated by Emmanuelle Waeckerle. Self made/published books from students and staff were sold to numerous private collectors as well as the British Library London and Pompidou Centre Paris. Graduates who exhibited and sold work include Christian Nolle 2002, Pedro Vicente 2005, Natasha Caruana 2005, Rosie Wooldridge, 2005.
A Research Cluster study day 'A Case of Books', with international speakers including Iain Sinclair, John Falconer, Martin Parr & Gerry Badger, Prof. Val Williams, Ian Jeffrey and Sophie Haworth took place at Farnham.
Journal of Photographic Culture
The Photography Course has been invited to become one of the founding partners in the new international Journal of Photographic Culture to be published by Sage.
Anna Fox
Course Leader in Photography - completed her first video work Pictures of Linda which received £7600 from the Arts Council England. It is scheduled to be exhibited in 1+1=3 in Australia, a collaboration in Recent British Portraiture at Freemantle Arts Centre, Perth. Anna's work is also to be reviewed in Next Level and the Royal Academy Magazine. She also had an 8 page spread about the video in the Autumn/Winter issue of Photoworks Photography Magazine.

Karen Knorr
Senior Lecturer in Photography - The Passage, a photograph by Knorr, has been shortlisted for the international REAL Photography Award alongside 29 other finalists that include Roger Ballen, Loan Nguyen, Edgar Martin.
Her work was featured in the autumn/winter 2005 issue of Portfolio magazine (with an essay by Lucy Soutter) and in the spring/summer 2006 edition of the Spanish photography magazine EXIT. Exhibitions for Karen include FABLES Photography and Contemporary (solo), Turin Italy. Simulacra and Pseudo-Likeness, New Manezh, Moscow State Exhibition Hall, Moscow ( group) with Hiroshi Sugimoto, Gregory Crewsdon, Pierre et Gilles and On View: Photographing the Museum, Yancey Richardson, New York ( group) with Thomas Struth, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Candida Hofer. Karen, along with other artists such as Christine Borland, Eva Rothchild, Bridget Smith, Mona Hatoum, Jim Lambie, Fergal Stapleton, Simon Starling, Sam Taylor Wood would feature in 'If it didn't exist you'd have to invent it: a partial Showroom history'. The exhibition opened at The Showroom in London in April 2006.

Emmanuelle Waeckerle
Senior Lecturer in Photography - her exhibition opened at Heim Arta in Linst, Austria in March 2006. In April 2006 she undertook a artist residency concluding with an exhibition 'artist in heaven project', Emmanuelle's long-term research project VINST, an interactive screen installation where a 'virtual' body is played as an instrument has been shown at a number of venues in the UK and overseas.

Kathy Kubicki
Senior Lecturer in Photography - had a long overview article of film, video and installation art at The Venice Beinnale 2005 published in 'Art In Sight, Filmwaves 28' as well as a review of work of USA artist Jordon Baseman and his show at Matt's Gallery London in the same journal. Her Audio Arts interview with French artist Daniel Buren (published CD and introduction) is also to be published in a forthcoming book of the best Audio Arts interviews by Phaidon 2007.
