BA (Hons) Film Production is one of the longest established film courses in the country, this course embraces all areas of film production from documentary and fiction to artist's filmmaking and critical writing.
You learn the craft and technical expertise of filmmaking as well as the creation of meaning, working with 16mm film in a purpose-built studio and editing on both Steenbecks and in digital suites. You then have the opportunity to specialise in a key area of film production.
Key study topics include:
- Production of a 16mm narrative film and a digital video portrait
- Cinema history and theories of interpretation
- Screenwriting, film grammar and analysis
- Location and studio filming procedures
- Working with actors
- Production of a high definition documentary and a 16mm drama
- Documentary history and theory
- Independent and alternative modes of filmmaking
- Focus on a specialism (choices include producing, production design, cinematography, screenwriting, directing, editing, sound design and cross-platform working)
- Dissertation
- Two practical projects
- The business of film and preparation for future careers.
